Gian: Who is Hemoptysis and how did it all get started?

Masaki: Hemoptysis is a Phoenix based metal band Travis and I formed June, 2007. I met Travis through our mutual friend and we jammed once a few months before we started as a band. We went through several member changes and end up with current line up in August, 2008.

Travis: Yeah. We had Sunao on bass since January of 2008 and Jack didn’t come along until after our EP was recorded.

Gian: What is the band all about and why should people take notice?

Masaki: There are so many bands out there that sound the same as other, more popular bands. We try to not sound like the others and be original and unique.

Travis: We just try to play what we feel. Our members are diverse in their influences so we come up with songs that sound different that other metal bands out there.

Gian: What are the band’s goals and message?

Masaki: Put out some epic records and be an one of the bands that can influence followers. It would be awesome if we could tour around the world.

Travis: I don’t know that we have one message to deliver, but we speak our mind freely with our lyrics. No topics are taboo to us.

Gian: If you had a choice of playing a ‘Dream’ concert, who would you guys choose to share the stage with?

Masaki: Megadeth, Carcass, Slayer, Behemoth, The Absence to name a few.

Gian: Shameless promotion or plug?

Masaki: Both. You got to do everything you can to get the name out. You can’t sit home and just practice and playing shows now days. Good luck with that.
